Description: The Medical Education Coordinator performs a variety of general office and administrative functions and education program tasks in support of the Program Director, House Staff, faculty, and Academic Affairs office. This job must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills in applying a detailed knowledge of the responsibilities, functions and underlying management structure of the department and of the larger institution in organizing and independently prioritizing work, establishing procedures and systems, and ensuring orderly and timely work flow. Typical Duties:
Obtains proficiency in New Innovations in order to maintain duty hours, schedules, evaluations, curriculum, conferences, and other information and reports as required.
Participates in development, implementation, and monitoring of recruiting and selection process to include use of Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) software.
Assists in preparation of RRC required documentation such as PIFs, annual reports, and other documents coordinated through the Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
Maintains, coordinates, and updates department house staff files and records as appropriate.
Responds to needs of medical students, residents, and program directors.
Participates in the development, monitoring, and implementation of department house staff orientation.
Coordinates program events to include retreats, courses, banquets, educational lunches, grand rounds, and other program-specific speaking engagements.
Prepares and maintains correspondence, proposals, reports and other documents required for accrediting agencies, GME office, Program Director, and other employees as necessary.
Works with the Program Director and GME Office in reaching fiscal goals.
Participates in coordinator meetings and functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
3 plus years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
5 plus years of experience in medical and/or health administration.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited University.
3 plus years of experience in a healthcare setting.
3 plus years of experience with New Innovations or similar GME software application and/or Residency Data Management System.
2 plus years of experience in a GME office and resident scheduling activity coordination.
