Welcoming the New Year is always filled with surprises, and JPS Health Network had a remarkable surprise on New Year’s Day. We were thrilled to help welcome not just one but two of the first babies born in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This joyous occasion brought much happiness to the JPS team, marking a wonderful way to start the year.
"Everyone was thrilled to celebrate the arrival of the first babies, which made the experience even more enjoyable.”
As the clock inched closer to midnight on New Year’s Eve, JPS Labor and Delivery were extremely busy. By 11:30 p.m., two expectant mothers were preparing to push. The race was on to see who would have the first baby at JPS. At 12:01 a.m. on January 1, Paola Morales welcomed a healthy baby girl, making her the first baby born in DFW in 2025. While the Morales family celebrated, just one minute later, at 12:02 a.m., Jazmon Harris gave birth to a baby boy, securing his place as the second baby and the first boy born in DFW.
Baby Natalia made her grand entrance into the world, weighing 7 lbs 9 oz, and has already filled her parents’ lives with endless joy. Morales expressed that this moment was incredibly special for her and her family. They were not only welcoming their beautiful baby girl, but she also arrived during a particularly significant time of year.
“We were in Labor and Delivery with several nursing staff and the doctor around us. My husband said, ‘It’s almost 12:00,’ and I realized I needed to start pushing. It all happened very quickly, Morales said. “I am super excited to have the first baby of the year in DFW, and I think it’s adorable how popular she is already. I have just been so excited to start the year off on a wonderful note—welcoming my baby girl.”
Harris was filled with equal excitement as she reflected on the unexpected arrival of her son, who came into the world early during a unique time of year. Baby Rojahrie weighed 5 Ibs 2 oz at birth, and Harris was overjoyed by the experience.
“It feels surreal because he was born a month early, and I think it’s so cool that the first babies were a girl and a boy,” Harris said. “Bringing in my first son was such a wonderful experience, and it was because the staff was so comforting. It was nice to welcome the new year with my son. Everyone was thrilled to celebrate the arrival of the first babies, which made the experience even more enjoyable.”

JPS was honored to be part of such a significant milestone in these families' lives. This experience serves as a continual reminder of why we provide high-quality, exceptional care to our community. It is a privilege to help bring new life into the world.
